Dwellers of the deep with a magic aura to match their rage and chaotic temperment.
No one has had the misfortune to meet one.
It is said that these ancient creatures were the first creation made by all four deities.
They were a test for the creation of life, something for the deities to experiment with.
But the Kraken were too powerful.
With Enaiteyl's influence their souls radiated an immense power that housed all energies from which the Kraken were created.
The beasts quickly learned to harness their power to affect the planes around them without allowing the planar beasts access to this massive well of magic; despite the aura permeating the ether.
This quickly became a danger.
The Kraken saw themselves as a superior creation.
Something that could contend with the gods 'above' them.
And so they were banished to a mortal realm.
A realm where they were cut off from the elemental planes.
One where mortality could work its course in time.
A Kraken's aura extends several hundred miles around it.
They slumber in the depths of the ocean which leaves but a tip of their aura to be stumbled upon in the seas.
While it can be used for magical purposes it is not well advised, for a Kraken is fine tuned to its aura.
Any prick or bend could potentially wake it, and if that should happen the beast might bother itself with a fly.
It is rumored that Kraken can change the aura on a whim, making casting by others difficult, causing storms and high winds in an instant.
It wouldn't even need to be near the surface to topsize a fleet of ships and drown every sailer.
Whether any of this is true is here say, since no one has every seen one.
It could just be sailers creating monsters to explain spontaneous weather horrors at sea.
Blackened wispy forms of some poor soul that once existed in the world.
In life they were the darkest of mortals, or had a particularly horrifying corrupted end.
Wraiths are formed partially by sheer force of will, blood sacrifice, and a little help from black quintessence.
Their mere presence can frighten animals to death, fires can be snuffed out with their negative energy, and if left around long enough even plant life will wither.
These creatures are known for their drain to the living; literally.
Wraiths will then use their drained life force to make malevolent spectres to do their bidding.
It is rumored that should a wraith be weakened enough it is possible to wound them with normal weapons; but only with luck.
