Called the wetlands for good reason. The plains surrounding it dip into the watery deposits of swamp and sucking mud where a careless step could lose one's shoe; or worse. The marsh is crested with mounds and hills and spotted with lanky trees wrapped with trails of moss and leaves that crawl out of the waters. Solid paths do exist spidering throughout the region, some more obvious than others, and in the rainy season they can all but disappear with the swelling of the acrid pools. The smell is thick in the air so much so that visible rainbow hues waver over the wetlands during the warmer seasons making quite a picturesque scene.
The main residents of the marshland are wild creatures and witches. Not too many bother to venture into their home or at least not so much as to find any residents. Many beasts lurk in the ponds along the rivers while others haunt the raggedy branches casting dancing shadows. Most traffic to Vicchen ends up being to the great landmark resting in its eastern side...
THE BLEEDING HEART: Like the other grand trees of Iendol, the Bleeding Heart dwarfs everything around it as it claws into the sky with spindly black fingers needling the sky. Its branches weave erratically over one another and spread wider than they splay upward creating a great umbrella between the heavenly bodies and the ground. There's a ring around its outer branches on the swamp below where rain has pelted away the paths and filled with the fluid and muck of the wetland. In its shadow is a field of mushrooms and weeds, wet with fungus and small critters, all the way up to its thick black trunk protected by jagged stiff bark seeping a viscous red sap so sticky it hurts to tear off. Its roots are deep and sprawling, curving around a bed of dire quintessence no one dares disturb; or even tried due to the difficult terrain.
