These three foot tall humanoids are said to be younger than all the other races, molded with the better features of all. Adaptability, cheeriness that shines even in the depths that would cause most others fear, deft hands and quick minds, and a natural resilience to natures poisons. There are those that would joke the creation of halflings actually stole partial essences from the other races, leaving them confused as to what their place in the world is; but the halflings never seem to mind.
Crafty beings that each have their own preference and tendencies for betterment. Of course, their greatest joy is merely joy itself. Having the comfort and safety of a home and those to share it with. Of course, this means all children are never truly wholly welcome to live in their parents house which is what causes halflings to mingle with other races to find wealth to make their own home. Most either do this by thievery or selling inventions; sometimes a mix. It isn't uncommon for those holding their money tight or eying a halfling suspiciously to find their wallets lighter the next morning.
Halflings like to keep their residences rather secret to the point that other races aren't commonly aware of their towns and cities. A few even go so far as to keep their homes secret even from other halflings. They have a mischievous streak and an insatiable curiosity in some regard, but are not much for a straight up fight. It is more likely they would sneak around or slip away to later setup a prank as revenge.
Lifespan: Anywhere from 75 - 95 years.
The wanderers hawking wares of all sorts, as well as perhaps reselling those that were recently stolen. These are the exceptional sweet talkers, fabled for their silver tongues. While rumors are often of their deceptive tendencies and working with Old Hands, they are also well known for quelling feuds and doing general good by those that deal with them often.
Those whose hands slip into pockets and carry off valuables as if they were born to do so. Naturally gifted with an affinity for thievery these halflings tend to be well renowned and rather wealthy among their peers.
Particularly entranced by how things work, wiler's have a devious streak of taking ordinary objects and putting them together to make traps. Similar to that of an Eccentric, they are sought out for their innovative creations whether they be traps or toys. Most wilers don't tend to build large scale projects but there is the odd one.
While not common amongst halflings there are a few mercenaries that find witch hunting good business with humans. Witch Hunters are highly trained specialists who make their focus the detection, pursuit, and containment of witches and tainted Quints. They vary greatly in skills, disposition, and purpose. While some are extremists who make the eradication of witchcraft their lifelong goal others see themselves as a harmonizing force attempting to bring balance between the Witch-born and the rest of society. One thing is true of all Witch Hunters, though: in some way, shape, or form they have aptitudes that are useful in either identifying Witches or countering tainted quints.
