Soul had to admit he was a bit amused with himself at how tense she was being around him. He noticed she was clutching her Journal tightly with her hands as if it would defend him off or something. He cocked his head after a moment as he saw where she was looking at him at and licked the end of his thumb before he traced it along his lips to remove the blood from them.Solving one problem from what he assumed would draw attention to himself them again he had bit his lips earlier, but who would know the difference. He listened to what she had to say about her theory and speculation about stuff and nodded his head to what she had to say and smirked at her last statement"Well I hope so since it is such a problem"He said as he had moved closer to her and looked into her eyes. "you know..you should relax....so nervous and everything....and your heart rate it climbing....those are tempting things"He said as he patted her on the knee before he gave her a bit of space and lend his head back against the wall of the building and closed his eyes.
"So...tell me this theory of yours for your project....and Ill do my best to help you out...,but you have to trust me....or this wont work....and to relax...."He said as he looked towards the door wondering what the two men were talking about inside.
The undead boy leaning in to tell her to relax did quite the opposite. They were alone in the streets, the hunter currently distracted with the unconscious woman and doctor inside. A flash of the vampire swooping over her and dashing down the streets went through her mind. The scenario was just silly, she knew, since she would obviously retaliate and not make it that easy. And Jace wasn't that far away. There was also the demeanor of Soul to consider.
At the pat on her knee she twitched and broke from her internal monologue. Her wide eyes continued to stare at the boy as he talked. A twitch of a smile flickered across her face before she gave reply. "The only thing trustworthy is mutual need. But the relaxing I can do." She took a deep breath and laid her head back, staring up into the starry night. She had an itch to reach down into the pack tied to her leg but resisted, instead her right hand trailing along her journal to clench its side.
Seeming to ignore Soul's prompt to explain more of her project, the tired woman turned her head back around to glance through the crack of the door. "Now to convince Mr. Hunter there that you're not a threat to society," she started with a bit of a sigh. "We could just leave. Short term easiest plan." The alchemist paused to look to Soul, "But he'd likely hunt us down in the long run."
"Look if I was going to do anything I would of did it by now ok...."Soul muttered to her to hopefully make her feel better and he seemed to laugh as she seemed nervous still and had suggested them just leave for the short term easiest plan. "Yeah he would probably need a lot of convincing and I doubt I would make it far...his skilled in the arts and I am very lacking....which that is all I want to do right now to be honest..that old man gives me the creeps"He admitted as he rubbed the back of his neck."I hate just sitting around and waiting....I didn't even have time to cover my track to my hole in the tree with my stuff in it...hopefully no one finds it...."He said with a sigh as he had stretched slightly and looked to her journal."So....why you still gripping it for dear life....you don't have some....repellant in that do you....I said I wont do anything and I'll keep my word....I have more respect for people then what others want to believe....I'm still a boy at heart....just...others don't see it as such..."He said and sighed as he glanced back towards the cracked door. They wore taking a long time to do or say anything and that made him nervous. Did the old man caught on and if so was he in danger. He looked to his boots and tapped them together slightly. He doubt he would have time to grab the dagger anyways if he had to protect himself. " You ever wonder about the souls that get caught in this game.....am I the only one that has ever been taught like this....?"He said out loud not sure if she would respond to it or not ,but since he had the time he got to thinking about everything that has happened to him.
Her head turning back to peak through the doorway while Soul spoke something seemed to catch her interest. The girl's face twisted into a confused look and she began moving her head around to try and get a better view of the room. Only now had it come to her attention that the room had gotten awfully quiet in there. She could see the doctor... the table... the woman too of course.
Mind so focused on the contents of the clinic the alchemist had no brain space for the questions and sounding ramblings of the vampire sitting right next to her. Her uncomfortableness about the blood sucking creature was completely washed away with her curiosity: where had Jace gone? Soul didn't seem to notice her inattention to him though, so that was good. He continued on asking questions about souls and a game, teaching of some sort. Only a few words were picked up in her busy thoughts, not enough to get the right impression.
"Uh huh, yeah," she responded blankly, twisting herself around now to be on her knees. She reached out to the door and pulled it open a tad. Still no sign of Jace. A wicked smile flew across her face. The door was pushed closed quietly before she turned her gaze back to the boy next to her. "He's gone!" she whispered excitedly. "We could just slip away." She continued, making a swooshing motion through the air with a hand. The journal was now clung to her chest with one arm, its weight obvious as it slowly slipped from her grip. Luckily she reeled in her other hand to catch it. "What'd yah say? He can't get mad cause he left first."
Soul rubbed the back of his neck slightly at what she had said about Jace being gone and he seemed nervous about her suggestion. He knew if that man caught up with him he was in deep trouble. He sighed and stood up as he watched her catch her journal as it slipped from her only moments before. "I don't know..."He said slowly worried about the what ifs on everything where had he gone to where had the man gone to. What had they talked about after he slipped out the door and how did she notice he had gone, but not him. It sounded all to fast for him something for him to choose. If he had it his way he would run and hide from both of them a not forming in the pit of his stomach by all the things that had happened tonight and he noticed the sun would soon rise with worried him.
"Ok ok fine...lets go then....the sun will be coming up soon and I have to admit I am very exhausted and I just want to rest a bit....wherever you might led m to....just got to make it close and fast..."Soul suggested.
"Oh come now," she practically whined at his initial response. Her head tilted and she gave a pleading look as if that would persuade him. This changed instantly when he gave in, the girl's face lighting up to an excited smile. Immediately she stood, securing her journal in one arm while she leaned down to pick up her bag and sling it over a shoulder.
"Call me Rache," blurted the girl still beaming her smile at the vampire. She waited for the return of what to call him before nodding acknowledgement then turning her gaze down the streets. Her smile dropped as her mind went into thinking mode. There were a few people in the streets, none of them appeared a worry; and none were Jace thankfully.
"Well..." she mumbled, "We might as well stick around town for the rest of the night... and day." Rache added the last bit with a slight bob of her head. "So how 'bout we find you a nice shady place to hide out?"
"Are you always a pest....?"Soul teased with Rache as he had stood there dusting his clothing off slightly when he had stood up and looked at the smile on her face when he had finally gave in about going with her.
"I so hope I am not paying for this later.....your be doing the explaining to do if he finds out I am gone and comes looking for me..tell him your babysitting me"He said with a true distaste for the word on his tongue.
"Names Soul.....though I try to remember my real name, but for some reason it is blocked....must of been the masters doing..."He muttered talking about the one who had turned him though vampires strength and powers was unknown to him since he was still at such a young age.
"Ok sounds like a plan....do you have enough coin for a place to stay or do you live close by....could we stop by the forest on the way to ...wherever we are going....it has all my stuff in it"He explained as he still seemed nervous his fighting skills and other stuff was very lacking so if Jace found him he knew he couldn't face him in a fight and would probably just take the beating for running off from him but he wanted away from this place and that old man. He just had a feeling that he needed to get away so he would follow this girl...wherever she went as long as it got him away from this building. He thought.

The dark was somehow welcoming this night, Cadence thought to herself. There were a couple of children running around outside a nearby house, the lights inside flickered warmly. There was a moment when Cadence thought of a homelife - settled somewhere with a house, maybe some land- But the thought flickered out just like those candles soon would. She thought of her Twin brother, Jason. And knew that there was no settling down - no end to the journey without him. She let the moment of melancholy pass over her as it sometimes did, and put the contented face of the adventurer back in place. Tonight was silent and her burden was light. What had she to fret on?
One of the Children came over to her, tugging on her pack from behind. "Ma'am!" The little girl said. "Howcome you have a bow? Girls don't hunt do they?" Cadence smiled down at the girl, kneeling to be on her level.
"Girls can be whatever they want to be in this world." She replied. "I am an explorer, I wander around seeing all kinds of things. I use this bow to hunt or fend off wild animals if I need to." She sugarcoated it for the young girl, of course. The last time she had used the bow had been in defense of a small Halfling town against Gargoyles, but that sort of ruined the magic of the adventure. "Would you like to try?" She asked, offering the bow to the girl. She withdrew a simple shaft from her pack - an unfinished arrow with no point. "Tell you what, You shoot this Arrow, and that will be the way I go next."
"Ooh, okay!" The girl replied, thought the bow must much too big for her. She rested the bottom of the bow at her feet, and attempted to pull back the string. She nearly had to put her entire body between the shaft and the sting in order to fire the shaft, but fire she did. She didn't even realize Cadence's fingers behind her tiny hand as she tried to aim. The shaft flew, landing down a nearby alley. "Cool Cool!" She announced as Cadence took the bow back.
"And my path is set, thanks to you." She laughed, rustling the child's head. "You're pretty good at that. Maybe someday you can be an Explorer like me."
The Shaft landed Just in front of Midnight as he stood to leave with the girl. Along came Cadence to pick it up. She noticed the two standing there, and gave a curt nod. She had the same rare Hair color of Jace, and her face somehow resembled his, though it had none of his intemperance. "Hello, there." She greeted, lifting the pointless shaft and waving it at them. "Letting one of the kids fire my bow." She said, as though defending the use of a bow in town.
She noticed the house they were standing near. Doctor Malachi's house? "My name is Cadence Rosenstele, nice to meet the two of you."
Rache burst out laughing when he asked if she lived nearby. "Like I would bring a stranger to my house. Vam-" The girl quickly brought a hand to her lips, just stopping herself from practically yelling the word 'vampire' out into the streets. With a brief clearing of her throat she composed herself, bearing only a large smile when she spoke again. "Yeah we'll go back to the forest so you can get your things. But don't you dart off anywhere!" She pointed a stern finger at the boy narrowing her eyes a little to emphasize her warning. "Then we'll hunt down a place for you and a place..." but she was interrupted with the sudden clatter of a wooden shaft bouncing against the cobblestone path.
Startled, she jumped to the side and spun around to see what had just landed at Soul's feet then her eyes trailed up to the woman approaching. "You just go shooting stuff at people do yah?" Rache questioned agitatedly. The alchemist was swiftly given an answer: children playing. She gave a light sigh and quelled any remaining embarrassment for her reaction to the harmless arrow shaft.
"Rache," the woman with multi-colored hair returned the greeting, though less chipper than Cadence. With her mind settling down now that she knew they weren't under attack or being chased the alchemist soaked in the features of this girl before her. She didn't seem old enough for white hair. At least the hunter they recently lost track of had an excuse; stress, and he was crotchety like an old man. Was she a witch? It'd be a pretty sloppy disguise for a witch so perhaps just a dye then? That or the hunter was actually a witch and was now disguising himself as a woman to keep an eye on them without them constantly suspecting he would behead them and be done with it!
As she thought her stare only got more and more focused to the point of not blinking. But the utter ridiculousness of such a ploy snapped her out of her thoughts and back into comprehending the conversation around her. At least, so much so that she could side track it and ask, what was likely, a stupidly common question for the girl. "How did you get your hair so white?" Rache leaned toward Cadence and reached out, obviously wanting to touch the soft strands dangling by Cadence's face.

Soul rolled his eyes at Rache"Yeah I'll follow you home then eat you..I get it...jeez....."He said with a laugh and nodded about what she said next."Would you stop with that...I wont run off or I would of ran off by now...I just want to get my things some mean a lot to me"He said as she began to talk about a place to stay before the noise had cut her words off by the arrow that had came zooming by and landed at his feet.
It had happened way to fast for him to have realized what had gone on through his head. But when the arrow had landed at his feet nearly missing him his reaction had changed to something of evil. His eyes had flash a glow slightly and his fangs had enlarged slightly when he saw the woman coming to retrieve the arrow he had quickly turned and lend against the way trying to calm himself. Though he had noticed after a second that the arrow was harmless, but it still triggered his vampire side as he had been trying to protect itself. He was even breathing deeply now as he had closed his eyes shut and suddenly slightly."Mmmm like wise"He said after a moment after he calmed down and turned and looked at the girl. Which gave him chills all a sudden she looked just like the female version of Jace. Was this his sister. No his sister was dead wasn't she...or...something. He thought as he tilted his head and then looked at Rache when she had bursted out with the question. His reaction clearly got the best of him as he shoved her slightly. "You don't just come out and ask something liek that to a stranger..."He muttered to her it was something you asked a friend not a stranger then again he was still a stranger to her as well."Um nice to meet you Cadence....my names Soul..."He said as he had caught her looking at the door to the place. Did she know this place too.He thought.

Cadence was looking at the door as the other two bickered. They both looked like they had questions for her, but as they had just met she couldn't imagine why. She slid the arrow back into place in her bag as the woman stared at her. It was disconcerting. She had known a narcoleptic ogre once who had that same expression when he lapsed... she started when the woman blurted out the question. Her hair? Oh was that all...
"Oh my hair? " she replied awkwardly. "I was born with it." She finished, letting the girl touch hair.
With Soul's light shove Rache momentarily paused her hand's approach to the other woman's hair, shooting the vampire a pouting glare. Of course he didn't understand. Why would he care what her hair color was. It was too bad her own hair wasn't in her usual pigtails right now or she'd dramatically whip them in his general direction. Instead she settled with just returning her gaze to Cadence with a transition to an expression of more friendly intrigue.
"Really?" Rache's fingers pinched a small bundle of the white hair. Absentmindedly the alchemist stepped closer as she leaned in and inspected the strands, completely oblivious to the discomfort of a weird stranger feeling one's hair. "Would you mind?" she questioned, teetering back and withdrawing her hand as she awaited an answer on whether she could pluck some hairs. Her night was beginning to turn back into a rather fortuitous one. She finally found a vampire, and friendly no less, and now another possibly rare ingredient she could use for experiments.
Heavy footsteps pounded their way to the door the group was standing around, the threshold opening at the Doctor's push. "Do you mind?" he paused, giving them all a look over. He lingered on Cadence and his look softened ever so slightly, "If you've no business here be off. I've wounded trying to rest." His voice was still a bit of a hiss.
Soul's eyes slowly moved to the man at the door and he sighed slightly towards his direction and nodded."Sorry sir"He said to him kindly as he moved away from the door and began to walk in a general direction wondering if the two would follow or if they would even notice. He moved out of respect and because he was still in a weird mood because of the fake area he wanted to get away from that doctor. That one creeped him out and there was some strange connection between Jace and this new girl that he had noticed even there smell smelled similar. He sighed at the thought as he slid against a wall of a building a little bit away from the two woman before he sat down and stared at his shoes. His tongue licking at his fangs as they plustated slightly for food.~Mmmm damn things...~He thought to himself as he looked back towards the two ladies. "So hungry right now..."He told himself outloud.

Cadence indeed wore a strange face as the girl inspected her hair. It was just hair, right? She pulled out a small knife a cut a lock from the bundle of hair tied behind her head, handing it to the girl. "What could you possibly need this for?" She asked before handing it over. The fact that soul's hair was also a pale hue had not escaped her notice, and she eyed him strangely. He was wearing a strange expression. Something between a mischievous child and a saint tempted to sin.
When the doctor came out, she gave him a curt nod. "Sorry, Dr. Malachi. Have you seen my Brother Around?" She asked cordially, as though it were the simplest question in the world.
The doctor eyed the two strangers, eyes narrowing, a question in the air around him. "No, I have not. Ain't seen hide nor Hair of Jason for a season." His complicated expression perplexed her. "Now off with you, unless you've got a broken leg I won't suffer the distractions."
She nodded, and stepped away. Why did that look in his eye make her so sad? She moved off to the side, unconsciously moving near Soul, but not hearing his whispered desires. Her pulse throbbed in her head as she trapped herself in her mind for a moment, deciphering that look. Had he been lying to her?
Beaming, the girl accepted the small collection of strands. She carefully wrapped her own fingers around so as to not lose a single one. Unfortunately now she she had no free hand to easily dig in her pack but she attempted it nonetheless. "Well this is a hell of a lot easier than finding a polar bear, no idea if it'll be a good replacement but don't get anywhere without trying." Her attention was down on her bag until the door swung open, her free fingers pausing a moment as her focus deviated to the doctor. Rache almost rolled her eyes before returning to her search, soon finding a small length of string she could wrap her new acquisition in.
The alchemist was only half listening since she already knew the jist of what the man wanted, but she couldn't help but linger on his odd wording. Particularly the hair part. But this was likely just due to her fresh obtaining of the white bundle now resting in her bag. Rache moved with Cadence as she finished securing her duffel.
"Heh, hide nor hair..." she repeated quietly while adjusting the strap supported by her shoulder. Finally though the rest of the sentence snapped attention in her mind. "Wait," she started softly, obviously speaking part of her thoughts unintentionally. "Your brother's missing?"
