(yes I would like that.thanks...and yeah he can jump back in whenever or if ever he returns. )
"Oh yeah"Soul added"I had completely forgotten about our arrangement.Sure I suppose we could go and leave him a note so you can do your research and get things done besides.....I don't want to be copped up down here.....who knows what he wants us to do"He added as he looked towards where Jason had headed with the piece of bacon in his mouth then looked back at Rache."So....what was you thinking of doing anyways just leave....and leave him a note on where to find us when he is ready or whatever "He added"Well more like us ready"He said with a smile. "I mean I'm a night creature I need room to explore and stuff..and besides.....I kind of want revenge....I think anyways...."He said on the person that had originally turned him. It might not play heavy on his mind, but he heard the stories and knew he would be some mindless monster someday and kind of hoped for a cure, but it would be nice to show that vampire a think or two,but then again Lord Jamar was a ruthless man and not one to cross...as he had found out the hard way. "Scratch that....I just leave my revenge for someone else to do"He said with a laugh.
While Soul perused his thoughts about what they had discussed last night and how they could proceed Rache was busy softly shuffling through her bag; eventually pulling out a small broken stick of charcoal. She stared at it for a moment with an annoyed look then shrugged and brought its tip to the nice blue card. "Revenge ey?" she quietly murmured before Soul retracted the statement. The little witch was busy leaving the hunter a brief scratchy note. She was hoping for more of a notable black mark but with the wax of the object her words were mostly just etched in with repeated strokes. She sighed, "That'll have to do," came another almost whisper.
Turning her eyes back up to Soul she grabbed the remainder of the food Jace had brought her and set it at the corner of her lips to slowly chew on. The bacon was a bit more stale like than crisp but it was food nonetheless. "Alright then, should prolly sneak out now while we have the ch'nce." Rache tossed her writing bit and the two unscathed blue cards into her bag and drew the string closed before throwing it over her shoulder. Leaving the scratched up card with her [hopefully] readable note the girl began tip-toeing over to the staircase leading up out of this cellar area.
"I'll check first," she whispered back to Soul, "For sun," she added before reaching above her to the hatch. It was highly unlikely they were emerging at midday for it to be a worry since they would be coming up in an alley, but it was better to be safe then sorry. As her head poked out to peer from under the barely lifted doorway it was clear that it was near dusk. The light was a fading red-orange wash on the cobblestone street; the alley itself encased in shadow. Rache moved out, careful to make as little noise as possible, then waved Soul up hurriedly.
Soul had quickly followed her ,but had been quiet enough with his thoughts to not really be paying attention to noise, but he was quiet nonetheless.
After appearing the the ally way with Rache he sighed looking at her.He had to admit watching her eat the breakfast that Jason had made for her had made him himself hungry and he had to admit he wanted a little bit of blood. Though since his feeding he could last a couple more days, but right now it felt like he was starving. He pushed the thought aside and sighed looking at Rache. "So which way do we go now?"He asked in a soft whisper as he messed with his shoes a bit to make sure they wouldn't fall off if they had to run or something for an unknown reason. Which having Jason realizing they wore gone so quickly kind of gave him a lump in his throat."Um might as well hurry out of around here"He added in a muffled under his breath type of thing.
"Well..." Rache began her thought while closing the hatch to the secret hideout. Wiping her hands off on her pants she returned her attention onto street level. "Yeah, getting out of here is step one." Her words were in a low tone. The small witch grabbed the strap of her bag and ensured it was secured and walked to stand beside Soul. She quickly grabbed his sleeve and urged, "Come on! Let's go get you a cloak so you don't combust then grab your stuff at the forest. The young woman started forward, dragging the vampire along.
She kept to the alleys, snaking along odd paths to avoid the trickle of sunlight still leaking over the horizon. After a few minutes of this they came across a small discarded pile of containers, rope, and tarp canvas. "Ah hah!" Rache exclaimed as she finally let Soul go and skirted over to the dirty cart remnants. "It isn't a cloak but should do. Though... you'll stand out a bit... hmmm," her voice trailed off as she reconsidered. "I mean... I guess we could find a destitute or drunk or something and trade them for their cloak?" came her next suggestion with a small shrug of her shoulders.
Before Soul could really say anything else Rache had agreed that getting out of there was step one and hurriedly at that as she had turned and grabbed him by the sleeve of his shirt and dragged him behind her. As he quickly followed they came across some remnants of some discarried cart and nodded his head in agreement with Rache."Yeah I could always get a little snack from them as well"He hinted as a joke a she agreed"Yeah that sounds like a good plan.....as long as I can get it to our way to the forest then I should be fine till we get there. The forest area where I hidden my stuff in is thick so there is plenty of shade and what not."He added as he looked over the stuff. "Do you think it's long enough for now....the sun is rising quickly"He added.
Rache raised an eyebrow at the undead boy, "The sun is setting, silly. I don't know about vampires but humans don't sleep 24 hours straight; in case you forgot." She added the last bit with a tease in her voice, lips curling into a playful smile. "But I don't think we can wait around here for the half hour or so for it to disappear from the horizon if we want to get out of town before the hunter finds us... or Cadence..." The witch turned her eyes away from her companion and teetered side to side looking down streets to regain her bearings.
"I... think... there's a tavern this way. Could have some 'easy prey'." She giggled, giving Soul a nod before darting down a side street. Turned out they didn't need to find the tavern, as the rushing girl ran smack into a man as she rounded the corner. A shrill cry rang out from her as the two went down. The bearded man, looked to be something of a farmer, recovered from the surprise rather quickly and rolled the dazed woman off of him. Getting onto his knees he began asking if she was okay, deviating attention momentarily when Soul arrived.
"What were yah doin' running like that?" he half scolded the witch as she brought a hand to her head. Rache's cheeks went a little red with embarrassment as she glanced Soul, quickly turning to reel her duffel bag back in. "Sorry sir," she partially mumbled as she sneakily unlatched her journal from her belt. "I'll take better care to watch where I'm going." The man smiled lightly and got to his feet, looking to Soul for a moment, "She with you?" His voice contained a bit of confusion as he inspected the pale boy before him; considering something. The distraction was well used as Rache finished releasing her book, raising it into the air and asking for some help; filling her other hand with her duffel and making it seem like it was particularly heavy. At first the man expected she was speaking to Soul, but Rache's eyes were intently focused on him so he reached out to hold the heavy book while she got to her feet.
The moment he did there was a flicker from the brown quint embedded in its cover and Rache's face was swept away by a large smile. "Thank you sir. Now, give your coat to my friend here, he's a bit cold." After a brief moment of hesitation the man did as he was bid, nodding as if agreeing to something. "Ah yes, he did look a little chilly to me," came his reply. The man took off his coat and offered it to Soul while Rache put her journal back on her hip. "Thank you!" chimed Rache. "This won't last more than a few moments so let's be quick," she explained.
"Right right...well I am still kinda tired...."Soul admitted with a slight smile as he rubbed the back of his neck slightly. "And I know......once he finds me mission he'll probably freak out and come hunt me down...ad kill me or something...."He said."You know just because I went off with you"He said and smiled again at the thought though it simply amused him though of seeing the look on his face when he gets to the note they left..and hopefully brought them some time to get far enough away before he notices...
Soul followed Rache as she began to dart down the ally way and had to hold in the laugh he so badly wanted to let out when she had ran right smack into what appeared to be a farmer and he stood there as he watched them both tumble down to the ground after such a hard hit. ~Nice going~He thought to himself with an amused look o his face, but had quickly put a serious look on his face when he caught the guy staring hard at him as if suspecting fawl play or something. Which he could understand him being pale and Rache well being human....more or less human. He thought.
Soul nodded his head to the farmer as he had asked if he was with Rache and he noticed from the corner of his eye as Rache was already getting out her jouneral to use on him. He kept him well distracted in the time being before he had notced to the farmer after he had offered him his coat ad quickly put it on."Thank you sir.I feel much better now...kinda sick you know"He said as he nodded his head in appreciation before nodding to Rache."Ok"He said as he quickly followed her away from the man as they continued on there way. "Next time...dont run around corners"He teased her.
A bit of red went into the girl's cheeks, "Well, erm, it got you that overcoat didn't it?" She struggled to retaliate, swiftly spinning on her heel and beginning a brisk pace further down the alleyway. "Thank you mister! Continue on your way now," she called back to the farmer with a quick wave accompanying. The man gave half a nod before turning around and walking around the corner from which the pair of unnaturals just came. He wouldn't get too far before fully realizing what had just happened and questioning why he just gave up his coat.
The vampire had a long coat and hood now, which meant there was no longer a need to take such odd criss-crossy pathways through the back end of town. She still didn't want to stroll down the main streets of course, as a shaded individual on such a nice day would probably draw a bit of unwanted attention, but it made their travel to the outskirts quicker. Rache stopped in the shade of the last building, staring at the distant peaks of the trees composing the near forest. The sun's rays still poked in a thin sheet over the horizon, glazing the field in an orange glow.
"Alright, Soul. Where abouts did you leave your stuff?"
Soul just smirked at her."Yeah....guess you did it on purpose though, but that yell sounded real to me"He said as he winked at her and continued on there way waving a hand of thanks to the man for the coat even if he didn't realize it yet though he would later.
Soul looked out towards the forest from the building they was at and glanced around slightly before looking back at her. "I don't think this is the same side that you ran into me at....."He added as he closed his eyes to think to see if he could pick up anything and he nodded pointing slightly."It's there way....I can smell the faint scent of blood on which I marked the inside of my stuff with just in case I got lost or something.....though I bet you wasn't expecting me to admit that."He said matter of factly."So....after I get my stuff then what....where will we be going...and how far would it take....I'm kinda hungry...."He admitted though it wasn't the first time he said it either.
"Well of course it isn't," she blurted out when the vampire made mention it wasn't the same exit of town as last night. "The other way would require going near that damned doctor's house..." Her tone faded as she reflected on the events of the previous night. A shudder ran down her arms though she tried to hide it by crossing them. There was a silence afterward as Soul thought, sniffing out his things as it turned out. The girl's head tilted slightly and a smirk curled her lips at his remark following the announcement. The part afterward regarding hunger though... that swept her face clean.
It was Rache's turn to think now, a low rumbling 'hmmmm' coming from her as she ran through ideas. After a moment she waved for him to lead the way to his stuff and gain some distance from this town. "Weellll... there's plenty of animals around. Ever thought of a diet of beasts?" she questioned after a good while of silence. "How much do you need to drink? I assume a squirrel or rabbit wouldn't really do."
"So you would admit your still freaked out about all that huh"Soul added as he lead the way to his things. It would take a little while to get to them, but he surely knew where they wore now.
He sighed at Rache's suggestion of a diet on beasts and they just didn't taste the same as humans did,but like he had promised he didn't want to kill anyone without good reason and just because he was a vampire he didn't want to be seen as a monster even though that the hunger would would day turn him into some horrible monster that would be killed as if he was never human. He sighed at the thought and shook his head "Eh there kinda small....maybe a deer or something around the size or close to.....a rodent wouldn't really be enough.....would have to drink a lot of those to feel better....,but don't you worry we should find something on the way"He said and he turned and smiled at her.
Rache considered his words, face brightening at the idea of a deer. That would be perfect! If they could catch one. She wasn't much of a game hunter herself, but surely the vampire could manage something. Or even just the simple skill of a bowman would work too; though that thought was less exciting than witnessing some vampire prowess.
"Well... As long as this something we find doesn't want to eat me," she replied, a flicker of a smirk tickling her lips as she spoke. The short witch spent a longer than usual time looking back at Soul when he had turned to smile at her as they rustled through the taller grass toward the forest. The hood of the jacket kept the fading rays of sunlight from burning his face, his features well good in shadow, making his pale complexion and sunken features look darker than they were. It was an intriguing contrast.
Eventually she ceased her examining squint to pay more attention to where she was walking. The ground was getting fairly choppy and the last thing she wanted as another face plant today. Or tonight. "After you've been fed we'll be heading north to a hermit's place. Should be a good place for figuring you out." She paused for a moment before continuing with almost a chuckle. "I wouldn't mind observing you trying to hunt down a deer. You a decent hunter? Like a normal person hunter with weapons and such," she quickly clarified in a bit of a flurry, struggling a bit for better terms.
"Honestly....I really suck at it...."Soul added."They either get away out of my trap or I slip up and miss my chance, but I been trying to get better.I think I have a short bow in the tree or something....anyways.....I think I can manage to hunt a deer though....in my other form...."He said suggesting that he go full vampire on it. He was much faster that way and would have claws to aid him. "I mean if your trust me like that?"He asked her."Then we can get to the hut and you can...examine me"He said with a smirk.
Her face scrunched up into one of contemplation as Soul explained his failed attempts and bad luck when it came to hunting game. At least he had a bow, which meant he could do something at range. Traps were something she could probably help out with. She was no expert by any means, but for the smaller burrowing animals she had some successes to fall back to in her own experience. Simple foot traps and what not.
When he mentioned another 'form' her gaze returned to him, sharp and curious. "A different form? Vampires? I thought only the zofien and, well, witches had such capability," she began with an almost scary fascination in her voice. "I mean, I'd heard you guys can go all batty if you don't suck the life out of your own former kind but..." Rache's face dropped into more of a skeptical disinterest, "That's not the one you're referring to right?"
Almost within the same moment, immediately following her question, her eyes sparkled accompanied with a wide grin. "Is it dangerous? Do you get all feral or something?" As she started her tirade of questions her hands began moving to her duffel, though her eyes never left Soul.
(well like buffy type of thing....I guess ? Would that be ok?)
"Um well....it's harder to control ....."Soul added as he rubbed the back of his neck."So I guess not,but it was just a suggestion....and yeah feral...something like that.....still learning how to control myself, but I think I'm doing pretty good...so....what are you getting...your journal?"He asked her with his head cocked slightly as he watched her hands slightly as he thought on ways to catch his food. "You got any rope in that bag of yours...maybe I could catch it that way...like try to rope it and bring it in for a kill shot or something.....or I could hold it and you could shot it....I'm still kinda rusty with a cross bow....what do you suggest?"He asked her curiously.
